SH ohne GPS!
Street names can tell a lot about important times of a city. This is also true for Shanghai. If you walk through the city nowadays, very often the meaning of the street names will not be clear to us – deciphering the correct pronunciation is challenging enough. Knowing the historical incidents is a wonderful way of remembering the street names and its meaning.
Part one of this new walk series „Name it“ will bring us back historically to the beginning of the 20th century in Shanghai and geographically into the International Settlement north of Yan´an Middle Road. We will learn all about the founding of the Republic of China and its aftermath and the upcoming of the communist party. Also, we can experience the Long March of the communists and discover many beautiful hidden alleys and great mansions that are hardly recognised. A wonderful walk to get to know lots of history and experience Shanghai scenery at its best!
